Announcing Posse Arts: Michelle Obama Celebrates New Posse Collaboration with Lin-Manuel Miranda

The Posse Foundation has launched a new arts initiative in partnership with Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Miranda Family Fund, with CalArts as the first institutional partner. Former First Lady Michelle Obama announced the program.

Carleton Scholar Wins Prestigious Watson Fellowship

Carleton College graduate Robin Wonsley won a prestigiousThomas J. Watson Fellowship, which offers “college graduates of ‘unusual promise’ a year of independent, purposeful exploration and travel in international settings new to them.” Robin will research and analyze reintegration programs for women who have been incarcerated in Dublin, Ireland; Oslo, Norway; Ontario, Canada; and Accra, Ghana.

Oberlin Alumna Wins Fellowship to India

Recent graduate Stephanie Mora Hernandez received a two-year Shansi Fellowship from Oberlin College. Shansi, an independent nonprofit organization, grants highly sought-after fellowships to recent Oberlin graduates to promote understanding and communication between Asians and Americans.

Denison Scholar Wins Distinguished Leadership Award

Denison University Scholar Michael Ivy was among only 27 seniors to win the Distinguished Leadership Award earlier this year. The award is given in recognition of a student’s “extraordinary commitment to excellence, leadership and dedication to Denison and surrounding communities.”

Middlebury Alumna Develops National Entrepreneurship Program in Uganda

Angelica Towne graduated from Middlebury College five years ago determined to use her education to empower youth in developing countries around the world. Today, the international studies major is the co-founder and country director of Educate!, a national youth leadership development organization that works with thousands of students and young entrepreneurs in Uganda.
