Posse Honors Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho

Posse Miami’s fourth annual Power of 10 fundraiser was held in October 2013 at the stunning New World Center to celebrate the accomplishments of Posse Scholars and alumni. The event raised more than $90,000 and honored Alberto M. Carvalho, the superintendent of Miami‐Dade County Public Schools.

Franklin & Marshall STEM Scholar Reaches Out to Community

Eduardo Alsina, a sophomore at Franklin & Marshall College, is taking his passion for science into the community of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. A neuroscience major and member of the college’s first STEM Posse, he assists local elementary school teachers to enrich their science curriculum through experimentation and demonstration.

Posse D.C. Celebrates 10th Anniversary Milestones

In 2014, Posse D.C. will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Over the past decade the chapter has grown to select 60 Scholars annually, supports nearly 250 Scholars on campus, and engages a growing network of nearly 150 alumni.

Chicago Power of 10 Honors Ginny Clarke, Raises Nearly $300K

On October 29, 2013, more than 250 guests gathered for Posse Chicago’s eighth annual Power of 10 fundraiser at the Chicago Cultural Center. This signature Posse event honored Virginia “Ginny” Clarke for her steadfast support of Posse Chicago and also celebrated the chapter's growing alumni community. The event raised nearly $300,000 for Posse Chicago.

Power of 10 Event Raises $190K

On October 9, Posse D.C. hosted its sixth annual Power of 10 fundraiser at The Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C. The event raised more than $190,000 and more than 200 people attended, including leaders from the local corporate, civic, education and philanthropic communities.

Summer Leadership Awards Help Scholars Explore Careers

Fifteen Posse D.C. Scholars were recipients of Posse Summer Leadership Award funding in 2013. This year’s recipients interned at government agencies; traveled abroad to Ghana, India and Bangladesh; and volunteered with nonprofit organizations focused on HIV/AIDS, global poverty, immigration equality and wrongful incarceration, among other issues.

Andy Nguyen, a Denison University alumnus, recently accepted an associate brand manager position at Kraft Foods following the completion of his M.B.A. at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.

Exelon Energizes Posse Chicago Career Program, Advisory Board

Exelon Corporation, the nation’s leading competitive energy provider, and its foundation have been investing in The Posse Foundation since 2009. The partnership expanded in 2013 as Exelon became an official Career Program partner and Jonathan “Jack” W. Thayer, Exelon’s chief financial officer, joined the Posse Chicago Advisory Board.
