The primary responsibilities of the Director are to represent the youth focused mission of the program, manage the financial operations and the development goals of the site, maintain strong university partner relationships, work closely with a local advisory board to raise the annual budget, and to recruit and manage a team that ensures the coordination of all program operations.
Summer Leadership Awards Help Scholars Explore Careers
Fifteen Posse D.C. Scholars were recipients of Posse Summer Leadership Award funding in 2013. This year’s recipients interned at government agencies; traveled abroad to Ghana, India and Bangladesh; and volunteered with nonprofit organizations focused on HIV/AIDS, global poverty, immigration equality and wrongful incarceration, among other issues.
Denison Alumnus Earns MBA, Joins Kraft Foods
Andy Nguyen, a Denison University alumnus, recently accepted an associate brand manager position at Kraft Foods following the completion of his M.B.A. at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.
Exelon Energizes Posse Chicago Career Program, Advisory Board
Exelon Corporation, the nation’s leading competitive energy provider, and its foundation have been investing in The Posse Foundation since 2009. The partnership expanded in 2013 as Exelon became an official Career Program partner and Jonathan “Jack” W. Thayer, Exelon’s chief financial officer, joined the Posse Chicago Advisory Board.
Atlanta Raises Over $230K at Annual Power of 10 Event
On October 30, 2013, nearly 200 guests joined Posse Atlanta at the stunning Mandarin Oriental for the annual Power of 10 fundraiser. The festive evening honored Misty Skedgell of Turner Broadcasting System, featured music by Unknown Lyric, and included remarks from Posse alumna Jasmine Verreen.
Syracuse Scholar Named “Freshman of the Year”
Syracuse University Scholar Mignon Farnet, who is a double major in accounting and supply chain management, was named Freshman of the Year by the Whitman School of Management.

Posse Houston Selects Class of 2018
In 2013, Posse Houston received more than 800 nominations for 60 merit scholarships from its six partner colleges and universities. This coming fall, the newest class of Houston Scholars will attend Bryn Mawr College, Carleton College, Colby College, Texas A&M University, The University of Texas at Austin and University of Virginia.

With just one semester under her belt, Alex Jones, a member of the first Posse to attend The University of Texas at Austin, has already joined the university’s television channel, a nondenominational youth ministry group, and the competitive campus cheer squad.
