In Memoriam

Fall 2013 | National

The Posse Foundation is deeply saddened by the loss of two members of the Posse family, alumnus Dallas Madlock and Scholar Dareon Cartman.

The first in his family to graduate from college, Dallas earned a degree in computer science from DePauw University. After graduating, he worked for IBM as business consultant for nearly five years before joining Accenture in 2012. Dallas was encouraging and supportive of the Scholars who followed in his footsteps and he served on the Posse Chicago Leadership Council, frequently advocating for the program.

Dareon Cartman was a Posse Scholar at University of Wisconsin-Madison and was studying community and nonprofit leadership. He was a talented mixed martial artist, a skilled football player, and a dedicated mentor in the Madison community. He had two children, Cadence and Joshua, and another daughter who is due in November 2013. Dareon made a lasting impact on the Posse community by bringing out the best in people and encouraging them to see the best in themselves.

These two bright stars will be sorely missed by the Posse community.
