Coca-Cola Foundation Awards $100K to Fund Pre-Collegiate Training Program

Winter 2014 | Atlanta

The Coca-Cola Foundation recently awarded Posse Atlanta a five-year grant of $100,000 for its Pre-Collegiate Training (PCT) Program. This funding will support Scholars as they hone skills related to team-building, cross-cultural communication, academic excellence and campus leadership prior to matriculating on campus.

“Posse Atlanta is truly grateful for the long-term support and partnership of The Coca-Cola Foundation,” says Posse Atlanta Director Zenith Houston. “Coca-Cola’s investment will help Posse continue to develop talented high school leaders from Atlanta, preparing them for success in college and in the workforce.”

The Coca-Cola Foundation is the global philanthropic arm of The Coca-Cola Company. Since its inception in 1984, The Foundation has awarded more than $660 million to support sustainable community initiatives worldwide, including replenishing water, empowering women, and enhancing the well-being of people and communities.

“Coca-Cola tries to be a positive force in every community we serve,” says Lisa Borders, chair of The Coca-Cola Foundation. “One of the more powerful ways we are making our community stronger is by helping to educate our young people. The Coca-Cola Foundation is proud to support Posse Atlanta’s Pre-Collegiate Training Program, which has proven itself with an impressive 90 percent persistence and graduation rate.”

Posse Atlanta is also pleased to have a strong partnership with Coca-Cola’s corporate division. Duane Still, the chief financial officer of Coca-Cola’s North American Group, recently joined the Posse Atlanta Advisory Board. Since 2012, Coca-Cola employees have generously donated to Posse through a memorial fund established in honor of Dave Taggart, a former executive who was an early champion of Posse within the company. In addition, The Coca-Cola Company has twice hosted the annual Awards Ceremony to welcome new Scholars, including the inaugural event in 2007 for the first Posse Atlanta cohort.

The Posse Atlanta community thanks The Coca Cola Foundation for its generous support.
