Willis Towers Watson Welcomes BU Scholar Intern, Supports Posse Atlanta Career Day

Spring 2020 | Atlanta

Boston University Posse Scholar Christian Vanleer, a junior economics and mathematics major, interned with Willis Towers Watson last summer in the firm’s health and group benefits department. The global advisory, brokerage and solutions company has been a national Posse Career Program partner since 2018.

Christian’s work largely consisted of creating deliverables and attending client meetings. Within the first week of his internship he was assigned to sit in on advisory sessions with premier clients.

“It felt more like a jump into the real world than an internship,” Christian says.

“It felt more like a jump into the real world than an internship.”

He reports feeling empowered by the firm, which asked interns to work collaboratively and present their weekly accomplishments to staff members. Christian notes that the experience was unique because it was full of interactions with key clients on tangible projects.

“Working at a consulting firm over the summer was the best decision,” he says.

Willis Towers Watson also supported Posse Atlanta with employee volunteers at last year’s Winter Career Day. The company’s team members were central to the event’s interviewing session, where career professionals conducted mock interviews with Scholars and offered performance feedback. They then participated in the reception that concluded the conference, which was designed as an opportunity for Scholars to sharpen their networking skills.
