WarnerMedia Hosts Winter Career Day

Summer 2019 | Atlanta

Posse Atlanta held its annual Winter Career Day this past January at the headquarters of WarnerMedia, a Posse Career Program partner. The event welcomed nearly 100 Posse Scholars and alumni and featured a diverse set of professionals representing many industries.

Atlanta Airlines Terminal Company President and CEO Dr. Kofi Smith delivered the keynote address, sharing stories about his personal growth and career path. The program also featured remarks from Brandon Fleming, the founder and CEO of the Harvard Debate Council Diversity Project, which aims to “develop the young social and political voice.” Two students of the Project, Payton Gunner and Osazi Al Khaliq, spoke about the ways persistence helped propel them to success.

Throughout the day, Scholars honed their networking skills, engaging Posse Atlanta’s advisory board and the other professionals in attendance. The event also included different workshop sessions that appealed to a broad range of interests. Those curious about arts and entertainment attended a panel featuring Zelda Hyde, the head of talent experience for Pinewood Studios (production center for films including Marvel’s "Black Panther), David “PROPH” Baldwin, a performing artist and owner of Steady Chasing Records, and Faron Manuel, the High Museum of Art’s fellowship coordinator. Kate Atwood, executive director of Metro Atlanta Chamber’s ChooseATL, presented on the city’s hiring trends and fielded Scholars’ questions about navigating the job market.

The schedule concluded with breakout sessions and mock interviews led by volunteers from Posse Career Program partners including Aon, CBRE, Deloitte, Nielson, Travelers and WarnerMedia.
