Virtual Awards Ceremonies Honor NYC’s Young Leaders as New Posse Scholars

Spring 2021 | New York

Posse New York has welcomed 124 new Posse Scholars at this year’s first-ever virtual Awards Ceremonies. The group of Scholars have been awarded $24 million in full-tuition scholarships from Posse New York’s 12 partner colleges and universities.

The virtual circumstances and work-from-home conditions did not stop Posse from celebrating these young Scholars, who were selected from a pool of more than 3,100 nominees. Joined by family, friends, Posse staff and college officials, the emotions were felt from the second the ceremonies started to long after each person clicked their “end meeting” button.

This year’s Awards Ceremonies also celebrated an incredible milestone: the selection of the 10,000th Posse Scholar.

The Awards Ceremony marks the beginning of each Posse Scholar’s journey to college graduation. The Scholars have since started the intensive Pre-Collegiate Training program, held over eight months through the spring and summer. This thorough preparation model ensures that Posse Scholars arrive on campus ready for classes and student life, in a program that boasts a 90 percent graduation rate.

This year’s Posse Awards Ceremonies also celebrated an incredible milestone: the selection of the 10,000th Posse Scholar. The watershed moment made the events even more special.

This fall, the new Scholars will matriculate with the Class of 2025 at Posse New York partner institutions Babson College, Brandeis University, Connecticut College, DePauw University, Franklin & Marshall College, Lafayette College, Lawrence University, Middlebury College, Smith College, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Vanderbilt University and Wheaton College.
