Posse New Orleans Celebrates Newest Class, Welcomes Providence College

Spring 2025 | New Orleans

In January, Posse New Orleans rolled out the red carpet for its annual Awards Ceremony, celebrating the arrival of 51 remarkable young leaders—the Class of 2029.

These Scholars, all hailing from the New Orleans area, have collectively earned $12 million in full-tuition, merit scholarships to attend some of the nation’s top colleges and universities.

This year’s celebration was especially momentous. In addition to longstanding partnerships with Case Western Reserve University, Texas A&M University, Tulane University and Villanova University, Posse New Orleans proudly welcomed its newest college partner, Providence College.

The Class of 2029 includes the inaugural cohort of Providence College Posse Scholars—a historic first for both institutions.

“Being a member of the Posse Program allows Providence College to expand our community to include ambitious, talented student leaders from the New Orleans area who are eager to learn, engage and immerse themselves within the Friar family,” said Steven A. Sears, the senior vice president for student affairs and the college’s designated Posse liaison. “We are thrilled and looking forward to our journey together.”

Before heading off to campus this fall, the new cohorts will participate in Posse’s intensive Pre-Collegiate Training Program. Designed to hone leadership skills and build strong bonds within the cohorts, the 8-month program prepares Scholars to succeed once on campus.

The new class will matriculate this fall and join more than 200 current Posse Scholars from New Orleans who are already making an impact and leading with purpose.
