Posse Bay Area Hosts Successful 2021 PossePlus Retreats

Fall 2021 | Bay Area

Each year, The Posse Foundation and Posse Scholars facilitate an annual weekend-long PossePlus Retreat with the goal of discussing a critical issue identified by Scholars. Posse Bay Area successfully hosted three virtual PossePlus Retreats in early 2021, attended by members of the broader student body, faculty and administration at Posse Bay Area’s partner schools: University of Puget Sound, Boston University and Lehigh University.

“The engagement from our university partners during these challenging times speaks volumes to their commitment.”

Last spring’s timely topic was “The State of Leadership,” which led participants at each retreat weekend to tackle questions like: How would you describe how we talk about leadership today? How do we hold leaders accountable? Who holds them accountable? How do we decide who leads?

While a continued hold on in-person gatherings meant that all 2021 PossePlus Retreats took place virtually, the momentum of each discussion still resonated across all three partner campuses.

“The engagement from our university partners during these challenging times—including faculty, staff and administrators—speaks volumes to their commitment to creating collaborative environments for their campus communities,” says former Posse Bay Area Director Farah Sutton. “We’re so grateful for their partnership in this work.”

In 2022, Posse Bay Area will build on the success of past PossePlus Retreats when the event is extended to a fourth school—our newest partner, St. Olaf College.
