Posse Atlanta Welcomes New Director

Spring 2022 | Atlanta

Posse is delighted to welcome Jamaal Greer as the new Posse Atlanta Director. Jamaal’s background includes extensive experience in youth development, community advocacy, and family engagement.

Jamaal was most recently the director of external affairs at The Rise School in East Point, Georgia, with past experience as dean of students at the Atlanta Classical Academy. His new position marks a return to Posse; he began his career on the Posse Atlanta program staff, working directly with Scholars.

There is no one doing better work with leadership, higher education, and retention than Posse.

During his four years as a senior trainer, Jamaal focused on Scholar retention strategy for three Posse partner schools: Syracuse University, Brandeis University and Texas A&M University. He worked with more than 100 Scholars, from university relationship-building to family interventions and campus visits. Throughout his past Posse tenure, Jamaal evaluated close to 1,000 Posse nominees and managed scores of student-mentor relationships.

“I am excited to be back,” Jamaal says. “My past work with Posse Scholars was extremely inspiring. Seeing our students succeed at such a high rate—with the support of Posse programming—confirmed for me that there is no one doing better work with leadership, higher education, and retention than Posse.

Jamaal holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University. He is also a dedicated leader in his local community, including as the co-founder of SLAM Athletics, as a YMCA advisory board member and coach, and with past service on the Cool Dads Rock board of directors.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead a Posse site, something I have wanted to do since my days as a trainer,” Jamaal says. “Posse Atlanta has accomplished a lot, and I am excited for all that we will continue to do as we build on success achieved by the amazing Posse Atlanta community, staff, advisory board, leadership council, and Scholars.”
