Posse Atlanta Power of 10 Raises $380K, Honors Community

Spring 2020 | Atlanta

Posse Atlanta held its 2019 Power of 10 fundraising event last October at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel. Thanks to the generosity of metro Atlanta’s business and philanthropic communities, the night raised nearly $380,000—the most ever generated by the annual event.

The evening honored Dr. Raphael Bostic, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, for his commitment to education, leadership and diversity. Bostic oversees all of the Bank’s operations, including monetary policy, bank supervision and regulation, and payment services.

Prior to joining the Bank in 2017, Bostic enjoyed an extensive career in higher education and administration, serving in various leadership capacities at the University of Southern California. Bostic also served as the assistant secretary for policy development and research at the U.S. Department of Housing and a senior economist at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.

The program included remarks from Posse Atlanta alumnus Joshua Cole, who discussed the invaluable training, life skills and support he received as a Posse Scholar. Joshua attended Druid Hills High School in Atlanta and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University in 2014.

Upon graduating, Joshua became the first Posse Scholar to earn a Luce Scholarship, which afforded him the opportunity to study and work in Korea for 13 months. He is now a second-year medical student at the University of California, San Francisco, and plans to become an ophthalmologist and health equity leader.

Both Bostic and Cole exemplify the visionary leadership that The Posse Foundation aims to develop in its Scholars.
