Posse Alumni Pursue Advanced Opportunities at Harvard, UVA

Summer 2026 | D.C.

Daphne Nwobike and Akamewane Ebude are carrying their Posse experiences into new academic and professional opportunities after graduation.

Daphne recently graduated from Sewanee: The University of the South, where she was selected as the recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award and delivered the University’s commencement address. The Sullivan Award recognizes a graduating senior who has demonstrated integrity, commitment to service and strength of character.

This fall, Daphne will begin studies at the University of Virginia School of Law, where she will pursue a juris doctor degree on a full-tuition scholarship.

“Receiving the Sullivan Award and speaking at commencement gave me a chance to reflect on the community that helped shape me,” says Daphne. “Sewanee, Posse and the mentors, professors and peers who supported me all helped prepare me for this next step.”

For Daphne, law school represents a continuation of the academic and leadership journey she began as a Posse Scholar.

“I’m excited to begin law school with a deeper understanding of service, leadership and responsibility,” says Daphne. “I am incredibly grateful to the Posse Foundation for setting me on this path and making law school a reality. I hope to pay it forward by taking every opportunity to serve as a resource to those who come after me.”

University of Rochester Alum Akamewane Ebude.

Akamewane recently graduated from the University of Rochester and will relocate to Boston to begin a post-baccalaureate position at Harvard University. The position will provide mentored research and training in preparation for advanced study in medicine. Before starting the role, she plans to complete her EMT certification this summer.

“I’m looking forward to building more hands-on experience in health care before beginning my next role,” says Akamewane. “Completing EMT certification will help me stay grounded in direct service while I continue preparing for a future in medicine.”

Together, Daphne and Akamewane’s next steps reflect the continued momentum of Posse alumni as they pursue advanced study, professional experience and service-oriented careers.
