Posse Alumni Help Build Inclusive Network at D.C. Strategic Communications Firm

Spring 2021 | Miami

Noted D.C. strategic communications firm the Glover Park Group (GPG) has seen multiple Posse alumni join its staff, fostering an internal community of connectivity.

In 2020, Hamilton College graduate Betsy Ramirez was the first Posse alumna to join the company. The firm did not have a formal connection with Posse when Betsy was hired as a financial services strategic communications associate. In the time since, Diana Escorcia, a 2020 Hamilton College Posse graduate, and Kendra Guerrero, a 2019 Posse alumna from Syracuse University have come on board to what is now Finsbury Glover Hering (FGH).

“Finsbury Glover Hering is thrilled to partner with The Posse Foundation in the work they do to empower young, diverse leaders.”

As a junior employee, Betsy was proud to be invited onto the company’s D&I Taskforce. Her first suggestion was to approach Posse as a Career Program partner, to help diversify how the company recruits new hires. Finsbury Glover Hering has now formalized the partnership, sharing job and internship opportunities with Scholars and alumni on the Posse Portal.

“Finsbury Glover Hering is thrilled to partner with The Posse Foundation in the work they do to empower young, diverse leaders,” says FGH Vice President and Head of Diversity and Inclusion Nicole Dade. “As we start this partnership, we’re looking forward to new ways we can collaborate with students, graduates, and staff of the organization.”

“I reached out to both Betsy and Diana about their experience and they provided valuable information that helped me throughout my interview process,” Kendra says, recalling her application process. “The ability to connect with fellow Posse alumni in my job search journey really reflected the power of the Posse network and community.”

Betsy became a leader of the company’s Latinx Employee Resource Group (ERG), connecting with Latinx employees across FGH, including Diana and Kendra. Last winter, the Latinx ERG partnered with the Pan American Development Foundation on a fundraiser for hurricane-affected countries in Central America, raising more than $1,200 for the cause.

Betsy recently started a new job at Edelman but says she was proud to create an impact at FGH and looks forward to the work Diana and Kendra will do as the new leads of FGH’s Latinx ERG.

Under the leadership of FGH Managing Director Kito Huggins, a Vanderbilt University Posse alumnus himself, Diana and Kendra are now also working on the company’s new U.S. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Collaborative that supports clients in their efforts to lead boldly and speak authentically on complex DEI issues.

“It all really did start with Posse,” Diana says. “It fueled my desire to work towards equity and justice, and I’m happy to be doing that with both the Latinx ERG and our company’s new U.S. DEI Collaborative.”
