Pepco Partnership Supports D.C. Scholars
Since 2011, The Posse Foundation has benefited from the generous support of Pepco Holdings, which has thrived as a D.C.-area energy provider for nearly 120 years. A dedicated community partner, Pepco has supported Posse D.C. with more than $25,000 in event sponsorships and in-kind donations to date.
“Pepco is proud to have seen the impact Posse D.C. Scholars and alumni are making on campus and in the workforce,\" said Debbi Jarvis, Pepco’s vice president for corporate citizenship and social responsibility, who has been a champion of Posse in the Washington, D.C. area. \"We are committed to developing and supporting these leaders of tomorrow through Posse’s dynamic programming and look forward to continuing our partnership.\"
This past fall, Pepco hosted one of Posse D.C.’s first-round Dynamic Assessment Process interviews at the Pepco Edison Place Gallery, which showcases art exhibits on behalf of local nonprofit arts organizations. The unique space invigorated student nominees and made the session a truly special experience.
The company has also encouraged its employees to get involved through Posse D.C. events and as volunteers working directly with Scholars.
In 2013, Pepco hosted Posse D.C.’s Institutional Donors Luncheon, enabling corporate and foundation supporters to connect about their collective efforts to improve the lives of local youth.
“Debbi Jarvis and her team have been incredibly supportive of Posse D.C., showing a serious commitment to our Scholars and alumni,” says Posse D.C. Director Tamara Wilds Lawson. “We are very grateful for our collaboration with Pepco and their belief in the Posse Program.”
