Lehigh University Honors First Posse Scholar Graduates

Fall 2022 | Bay Area

Posse Bay Area celebrated the graduation of the first class of Lehigh University Posse Scholars at a special ceremony this spring. The trailblazing Scholars marked the commencement milestone in the presence of family and friends.

“When I think about Posse 1 Scholars, I think of leaders,” Lehigh University Deputy Provost for Academic Affairs Jennifer Jensen, the campus Posse liaison, told the honorees at Posse’s graduation ceremony. “You walked onto this campus, and you engaged. You joined groups, led activities, applied for and earned national awards and recognition.”

Since 2018, Lehigh has awarded $10.7 million in Posse Scholarships to students from the San Francisco Bay Area.

Lehigh’s first Posse cohort arrived on campus in the fall 2018 semester. Since then, the University has welcomed an additional four cohorts, awarding a total of $10.7 million in Posse Scholarships to students from the San Francisco Bay Area.

“My Posse met eight months before coming to campus, so when I got to campus, I knew at least nine other students,” Posse Scholar Joseph Swenson told The Brown and White, Lehigh’s student newspaper. “I was glad I was able to come to school with nine other students that I had relationships with, so that I had some support starting college.”

The inaugural Posse Scholars at Lehigh made a tremendous impact in their four years on campus. The graduates leave a legacy of excellence in and out of the classroom that will serve as an example for Lehigh Posses to come.
