Lafayette Alum Opens Doors for Future Scholars
Brianna Braswell, a 2016 graduate of Lafayette College and a Posse D.C. Scholar, is helping students from her hometown realize their college dreams—just as she once did—through her work in college admissions.
Now serving as associate director of admissions at Lafayette, Braswell plays a critical role in shaping the next generation of students. She leads recruitment efforts in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region, oversees merit scholarship review, manages counselor relations, and contributes to the college’s Social Impact and Belonging initiatives.
Giving back to Posse and helping students from my own community access these opportunities is incredibly rewarding.
One of her most meaningful roles is serving as a liaison for Lafayette’s partnership with The Posse Foundation. In December, she returned to the Posse D.C. office to participate in the selection of Lafayette Posse 20, supporting the very process that once launched her own path.
“Giving back to Posse and helping students from my own community access these opportunities is incredibly rewarding,” Braswell said.
A D.C. native, Braswell earned a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology and sociology with a minor in women’s and gender studies at Lafayette. As a student, she was a Head Resident, Resident Advisor, Kaleidoscope social justice peer educator, and a member of the dance team. She also interned with the Posse D.C. office in the summer of 2012.
In 2021, she completed her Master of Education in higher education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Braswell’s story is a powerful example of the long-term impact of Posse. From Scholar to admissions leader, she continues to pay forward the support she received—transforming individual opportunity into institutional change.
For Posse donors and partners, Braswell’s journey underscores the enduring value of investment in young leaders who return to uplift the communities they came from—and shape the institutions they now serve.
