Kirkland & Ellis Partner Joins Chicago Advisory Board

Ted Swan, a partner at the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis LLP and a longtime supporter of education organizations throughout Chicago, recently joined the Posse Chicago Advisory Board.

For over 30 years, Ted has been involved in structuring, negotiating and completing a wide variety of corporate transactions for Kirkland & Ellis. Ted has also developed a significant private equity fund formation practice, forming over a dozen funds in the past several years.

Impressed by the innovative, comprehensive programming and proven results of the Posse model, Ted accepted a seat on the board this past July.

“Posse finds students with exceptional talent and helps to make sure they have every chance to succeed,” says Ted. “Every Posse Scholar that I have met has a true passion for learning, which is exciting to see.”

Ted is an active volunteer at Posse Chicago, participating in the Dynamic Assessment Process to help select potential Posse Scholars and serving as a writing coach to Scholars preparing to matriculate on campus in the fall. This summer Ted was also a Career Program mentor to Scholars and alumni interested in the legal field.

 “Posse Scholars are ready to conquer the world,” says Ted.

As a board member, Ted is eager to raise awareness about Posse Chicago and to continue to support Posse Scholars in a variety of ways.

“It’s great to see so many stories of what Chicago youth can do when given access to an excellent education,” says Ted. “Helping one kid at a time is how we are going to make a difference, and I look forward to helping Posse Chicago continue to grow.”
