
Jones Walker LLP Partner Richard Cortizas Joins Posse New Orleans Advisory Board
Richard Cortizas is Posse New Orlean’s newest advisory board member. A partner in the corporate practice group at Jones Walker LLP, Richard serves on the firm’s board of directors. His legal practice focuses on transactional matters, including land use and zoning, public finance and economic development projects. He has represented corporate clients, developers and individuals before planning commissions, zoning boards, governing authorities and regulatory agencies across Louisiana.
In addition to his legal work, Richard is Jones Walker’s Chief Culture & Inclusion Officer. In this role, he works with firm leadership and the Culture & Inclusion Committee to advance initiatives that support opportunity, mutual respect and the recruitment and advancement of lawyers and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Richard also has a strong record of public service. He served as executive counsel to New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu and later as City Attorney, overseeing the city’s legal affairs. His professional path came full circle when he returned to Jones Walker in 2013 after beginning his career there several years earlier.
Rooted in New Orleans, Richard brings to the Posse New Orleans Advisory Board a deep commitment to equity, inclusion and youth leadership.
