Hamilton College Alum Leads Policy Initiatives in Boston Mayor’s Office

Fall 2025 | Boston

Branden Miles, a Hamilton College graduate, is serving as Policy and Research Manager for the City of Boston’s Mayor’s Office of Black Male Advancement. In this role, he helps shape policy and develop strategic initiatives that support the well-being and advancement of Black men and boys across the city.

“I love being in community by listening, learning, and building with others,” says Miles. “There’s something deeply rewarding about creating spaces where folks feel seen and empowered.”

Never underestimate the power of showing up consistently.

Miles studied political science and government as a Scholar at Hamilton College before earning a master’s degree in public policy analysis from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. His academic focus on organizational behavior, economic inequity and racial equity informs his current work in city government.

Looking ahead, Miles aims to continue creating restorative and inspiring spaces through events, storytelling and convenings. His goal is to “build something that feeds both individual growth and collective impact.”

Reflecting on his Posse experience, Miles says, “The program helped him develop leadership skills and a sense of accountability. That accountability to a group bigger than myself—and the skills to navigate complex institutions with integrity—helped me build a strong foundation in leadership, resilience, and purpose.”

To current Scholars, his advice: “Stay curious and grounded in your values and never underestimate the power of showing up consistently.”
