Energy Exec. Advances Posse’s Workplace Impact
For Dan Pickering, the co-president and head of asset management at Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co., supporting Posse takes many forms—Posse Houston Advisory Board chair, major donor, career coach, and Posse Consulting client.
Dan committed his Houston-based firm, an industry leader in energy investment, to work with The Posse Foundation’s newly established consulting department, which leverages Posse’s expertise in equity, diversity and leadership to benefit corporations, institutions of higher education, K-12 education programs, nonprofits and government agencies.
“Bringing the types of discussions Scholars have at PossePlus Retreats to the workplace has a lot of value,” says Dan. “If you look at Houston and Texas in general, it’s a diverse demographic and that’s what our company is going to look like over time. Talking about and understanding these issues will be important. We’ll be smarter and better.”
Dan founded Pickering Energy Partners, Inc. in 2004 and the company merged with Tudor Capital in 2007. Prior, he was a petroleum engineer for ARCO Alaska, an analyst and portfolio manager at Fidelity in Boston, and an energy analyst for Simmons & Company, International. He holds a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Missouri and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
“Dan is incredibly caring and dedicated, chairing the Houston board since the site’s inception,” says Posse President and Founder Deborah Bial. “He is involved on every level, from serving on the national board to supporting Scholars individually as a career coach. Posse is lucky to have Dan’s leadership and involvement and it is a personal privilege to work with him.”
