CNN’s Nia-Malika Henderson Discusses Diversity in Media

Fall 2018 | D.C.

Earlier this year Posse D.C. held its annual corporate breakfast, featuring a conversation with CNN’s senior political reporter Nia-Malika Henderson. More than 70 guests attended, including many Posse alumni.

Frank Sesno, director of the School of Media and Public Affairs at The George Washington University and former Posse D.C. Advisory Board chair, returned to moderate the discussion.

As Ms. Henderson discussed her personal background and experience as a journalist, she engaged participants in a conversation on the importance of diversity in the media.

“Nia-Malika’s candor and honesty helped situate my own news engagement in the current media landscape,” says Grinnell alumna Opeyemi Awe. “It’s incredible to see how she uses her success as a vibrant political commentator to mentor the next generation of female journalists of color.”

A number of high-level corporate leaders from across the D.C. region attended the event, including representatives from Capital One, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Freddie Mac, MGM, Volkswagen Group of America, Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP and Wells Fargo.

The event was generously hosted by Latham & Watkins LLP.
