Atlanta Welcomes Newest Class of Scholars

This past January, Posse Atlanta welcomed 62 new Scholars and their families into the Posse community at a heartwarming Awards Ceremony held at the historic Fox Theatre. The new Scholars are recipients of over $12 million in full-tuition leadership scholarships from Posse’s partner colleges and universities.

Attendees included Posse staff and alumni, advisory board and leadership council members, and representatives from all six Posse Atlanta partner schools: Bard College, Boston University, Brandeis University, The College of Wooster, The George Washington University, and Texas A&M University.

The evening celebrated the achievements of the newest class of Scholars, most of whom attend public high school and will be the first in their families to attend college. Scholars received roses and listened to congratulatory remarks from Posse staff and college administrators.

The ceremony closed with parents and other community members offering heartfelt sentiments of pride and encouragement to the Scholars as they stood on stage.

“I was very nervous and excited to meet my Posse,” says Justice Oliver, a member of the newest Texas A&M University cohort. “I got super emotional on stage. The night was very uplifting.”

The new Scholars are currently participating in Posse’s Pre-Collegiate Training Program. Over the next few months, as they prepare to matriculate on campus, they will continue to develop their leadership skills, receive career and resume coaching, and learn to navigate their colleges.
