Atlanta Scholar Seizes Opportunities with Multiple Posse Career Partners

Summer 2019 | Atlanta

Kendall Castaneda, a sophomore at Boston University, was one of two Posse Scholars selected to attend the Deloitte Risk and Financial Advisory 2019 STEM Summit this past January.

At the conference, Kendall interacted with Deloitte staff and students from across the country. After successful networking, he translated the experience into a summer internship in Atlanta with Deloitte, a Posse Career Program partner.

This spring, Kendall also participated in Google’s Code U program, an immersive retreat for computer science students at the company’s Sunnyvale campus in California. Google is another Posse Career Program national partner.

Thanks to Posse, I now get to explore my passions.

A graduate of Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Georgia, Kendall makes a point to actively seek opportunities to nurture his leadership skills on and off campus. For example, this past March he hosted a program for Boston University’s Minority Connection Initiative entitled, “Minorities and Mental Health.” The event featured speakers and breakout sessions for students focused on achieving and maintaining mental wellness.

Kendall is working towards a double major in computer science and anthropology and is both humbled by and appreciative of his accomplishments.

“I picked BU because there were many opportunities to explore my interests,” he says. “Thanks to Posse for the opportunity to attend this school, the support of the Posse Atlanta team, BU staff, my Posse mentor, and, of course, my Posse, I now get to explore my passions.”
