Annual Glitter Soirée Raises Nearly $500K
Posse Los Angeles held its eighth annual Glitter Soirée this past October at the Fox Lot Studios in Los Angeles, California. A celebration of Posse Scholars’ achievements, the gala welcomed close to 200 guests and raised nearly $500,000 to support the program.
The evening acknowledged the newest cohort of Posse Scholars from Pepperdine University. The Scholars were interviewed by Los Angeles United School District Superintendent and Posse National Board Member Alberto Carvalho. Scholars spoke about their Posse experience, from the moment they received “the call” to their time together in Pre-Collegiate Training leading up to their matriculation on campus.
The Glitter Soirée featured alumni who are leading in their fields, including University of Southern California alum Alexis Cotton, a product design lead at Meta, and Sulman Usman, a Vanderbilt University alum and the co-founder and president of Adaptive Green, a leading sustainability firm. Each talked about the importance of Posse and the impact it had on their lives and careers. Both Cotton and Usman also serve on the Posse Los Angeles Advisory Board.
Entertainment was provided by singer, songwriter, actor, author, director and producer, Billy Porter, and singer Lady Blackbird.
