Scholars Shadow Leading Law, Consulting, Arts Professionals

Summer 2013 | Atlanta

This summer, Posse Scholars were exposed to exciting careers in law, consulting and the arts thanks to job shadow days at Jones Day, Accenture and The Woodruff Arts Center.

Leadership Council Members Jennifer Bunting-Graden and Natalie Williams planned a great day for Atlanta’s pre-law Scholars at Jones Day, a global legal institute. Scholars simulated the day-to-day operations of working at a law firm, crafting opening statements and negotiating recording contracts.

“Our lawyers enjoyed interacting with the Scholars and thought they were impressive,” says Jennifer.  “The Scholars were engaged, asked insightful questions, and exhibited poise and maturity beyond their years. I am excited about Posse and the extraordinary results the organization has achieved.  We look forward to the next Job Shadow Day.”

Posse Atlanta was thrilled to work with the Atlanta office of leading management consulting firm Accenture for the first time. Scholars learned helpful interview tips in a workshop led by members of Accenture’s human resources team. Scholars put their newfound knowledge to the test during a follow-up mock interview session.

Scholars whose artistic interests range from music performance to graphic design to performing arts enjoyed their time at The Woodruff Arts Center. Throughout the day, Scholars engaged with senior leadership from the Alliance Theatre, Young Audiences, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, as well as with Virginia Hepner, the president of the Woodruff Arts Center. The highlight of the day was a behind-the-scenes tour of the High Museum of Art led by Curator Stephanie Heydt.

Posse Atlanta is grateful to Leadership Council members Jennifer Hunting-Braden and Natalie Williams as well as Jones Day, Accenture, and The Woodruff Arts Center for hosting Posse Scholars this summer.
