Scholars Explore Professional Interests, Future Careers

Spring 2013 | Los Angeles

Randstad, a leading agency that provides professional recruiting and staffing solutions for companies nationwide and internationally, led an “Explore Work” presentation for more than 45 Posse Los Angeles Scholars this winter.

Scholars learned the importance of an effective resume, how to identify transferable skills, and how to use professional interviewing techniques. Using President Barack Obama’s LinkedIn page as an example of how Scholars can research a particular position in an industry and then set their own path to achieve their goal, the presentation also guided Scholars on how to research salaries and specific companies.

“I learned so much about researching companies,” says Frank Williams (Dickinson Posse 7). “I didn’t realize how much information is available. I think it will really help me prepare for interviews in the future.”

“[The event] was a great success,” said Randstad Recruiter PJ Canterbury. “I know our team had a lot of fun participating.”
