Posse Partners with Louisiana Public Health Institute

Fall 2014 | New Orleans

Posse New Orleans is proud to announce a new Career Program partnership with the Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI), a New Orleans-based nonprofit organization. LPHI will provide Scholars with valuable opportunities to learn about and work in the public health sector.

“We are excited to partner with The Posse Foundation,” says Joe Kimbrell, the CEO of LPHI. “We look forward to hosting our first Posse Scholar next summer.”

LPHI strives to improve the health and quality of life for those living in Louisiana. The organization coordinates and manages public health programs and initiatives in health systems development and community health improvement sectors. LPHI has services in program design and implementation, evaluation and research, information and technology services, media and communications, policy development and advocacy, and finance and operations.

As a Career Program partner, LPHI will offer paid internships to Posse Scholars who will work alongside professionals from a wide variety of public health sectors within the Greater New Orleans community. LPHI will also lend their services to Posse New Orleans Scholars through career-related workshops during summer and winter programming.

“We could not be more excited to partner with LPHI,” says Posse New Orleans Director Monica Sylvain. “This career partnership takes us one step further in fulfilling our third goal where Posse Scholars transition from being leaders on campus to being leaders in the workforce.”
