Posse Miami Celebrates Scholars' Summer Achievements

Fall 2013 | Miami

Greenberg Traurig, an international law firm, hosted Scholars, Career Program partners and professional mentors for Posse Miami’s annual Internship Celebration in August. Scholars were acknowledged for their professional accomplishments that included interning in the global security department at Royal Caribbean, teaching youth at Breakthrough Collaborative in New York, and doing research at the National Institutes of Health.

“As a Scholar interested in promoting critical and substantive change in education policy for this nation, I believe the Humanity In Action Fellowship has prepared me to participate, listen, discuss, and challenge others to think critically, reflect and make a difference,” said Mount Holyoke College Scholar Michelle Espinosa, who spent the summer in Copenhagen, Denmark, for her fellowship.

Keynote speaker Sabrina Ferris, a Posse Miami Advisory Board member and shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, congratulated the Scholars for all of their hard work and encouraged them to maintain the relationships they established this summer.

The celebration was also an opportunity for Posse to thank the Career Program partners and professional mentors who provided internships and guidance to Miami Scholars. Their support is essential for Scholars’ professional development as they gain work experience and consider career paths.

“The support of our Career Program partners and the dedication of Posse Miami Scholars this summer has not only opened up doors of access for current Scholars, but for those who will come behind them,” said Posse Miami Career Program Manager Meghan Strandell. “We look forward to celebrating the continued successes of our Scholars and seeing their hard work turn into successful career and graduate school opportunities.”
