Ochsner Rep Volunteers for Posse New Orleans

Winter 2013 | New Orleans

Wendell White, assistant vice president of Hospital Revenue Cycle at Ochsner Health System, is one of Posse New Orleans’ newest volunteers.

A native of New York City with roots in the Caribbean, Wendell moved to New Orleans in 2011 and immediately sought out ways to get involved in the community. After hearing Posse New Orleans Director Monica Sylvain speak at a Rotary Club event, he knew he had found a great opportunity.

“I support Posse because I know the importance of having a support group from my experience at Duke University,” says Wendell. “I really didn’t know what it was going to be like going to college—especially a top college like Duke. Like some potential Posse Scholars, my cousins and I were the first to go to a four-year college in the history of our family. I could have used a Posse.”

After receiving training, Wendell served as a guest evaluator for two nights of Posse’s unique selection process, the Dynamic Assessment Process (DAP).

“Wendell is a prime example of how this city has embraced Posse New Orleans since we opened last year,” says Monica. “Without volunteers from the community like Wendell, the work of selection during DAP would be virtually impossible.”

Posse New Orleans looks forward to having Wendell as a member of the Posse family for years to come.
