Deloitte Impact Day Kicks off Summer Career Events

Summer 2015 | Los Angeles

More than 30 Posse Los Angeles Scholars and alumni attended Deloitte Impact Day, a national service event organized by the national Career Program partner. The event was facilitated by local Deloitte professionals and focused on developing professional skills for success in higher education and the workforce.

The day began with a visit from Deloitte CEO Jim Moffatt, who offered Scholars professional advice. When asked what advice he might offer to rising seniors in college, he discussed the characteristics of a leader, noting that Deloitte values individuals who are able to excel within a team, and emphasized the importance of incorporating personal passions into career paths.

Among the more than two dozen Deloitte employees participating in Posse’s Impact Day sessions was consultant Monique Cadle, a Claremont-McKenna College Posse alumna who also holds a master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University. Monique facilitated a workshop that helped Scholars develop and practice their “elevator pitch,” an exercise in networking and self-representation.

In her first weeks at Deloitte in 2010, Monique was introduced to the many ways she could engage with Posse through DePauw University Posse alumnus Jeyson Florez, and she has been involved ever since.

“When I left Impact Day, I wanted to tell all the Scholars how proud I am of them,” Monique says, “They are such a mature, energized, and compelling group of students doing great work with great ideas.”
