Posse alumni at Posse Chicago’s 10th annual Power of 10 event.

Community Raises Over $500K to Support Scholars

Winter 2016 | Chicago

In October 2015, more than 300 guests gathered for Posse Chicago’s 10th annual Power of 10 event at the Chicago Cultural Center. William A. Von Hoene, Jr., the senior executive vice president and chief strategy officer of Exelon Corporation, was honored for his commitment to diversity in education and the workforce. The event raised more than $500,000 for Posse Chicago, a record for the site.

The event program highlighted the strength, perseverance and power of a Posse of 10 students. Pomona College Posse alumna Ermelinda Villagomez, an associate in the finance practice group at Schiff Hardin LLP, shared her journey from Scholar to college graduate and from law school to law firm. She graduated from Columbia University Law School as a Harlan Stone Fisk Scholar in 2015 and returned to Chicago to practice.

More than 75 Posse alumni joined Ermelinda at the event, a powerful statement about the value alumni ascribe to their Posse experience and their commitment to ensuring that Scholars continue to benefit from the program.

The event was an overwhelming success thanks to the committee led by co-chairs and Posse Chicago Advisory Board members Diane Swonk and Jonathan “Jack” Thayer.

Please save the date and join Posse Chicago in honoring Allstate at the 2016 Power of 10 on October 27 at the Chicago Cultural Center.
