Career Program Partners, Scholars Celebrate Summer of Hard Work

Fall 2013 | New York

Posse New York marked the end of summer with its annual Internship Celebration. The event was sponsored by leading insurance provider and Posse Career Program partner Travelers and hosted by international law firm Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett. With 140 Scholars interning at close to 50 organizations, there were many accomplishments to celebrate.

Ten Scholar interns were featured in a video presentation about how their experiences further strengthened their leadership skills. While Scholars extolled the value of their internships, their supervisors acknowledged the impact that team building training has for Scholars.

“I am very proud to be a colleague of six Posse interns this summer,” said Lisa Tepper, Travelers’ regional president of Downstate New York/ New Jersey. “My organization is better because of our Posse interns' participation.”

Likewise, recent Babson College graduate Kadia Tubman noted that her internship helped her become a better leader. Kadia interned at Nielsen, a leading global company that researches, analyzes, and provides feedback on consumer market behaviors. She credits the welcoming environment of Nielsen and the company’s “you matter” philosophy with helping her understand how she can make the transition from campus leader to workforce leader.

Posse New York is incredibly grateful to the corporations, foundations and organizations that provided Scholars with opportunities to further develop their leadership skills in the workforce.
