Alumni Advisory Council Kicks Off 2016-17 Planning

Spring 2016

In April, 17 alumni representing all 10 Posse cities gathered in Miami for the annual Posse National Alumni Advisory Council (PNAAC) session and national board meeting to kick off their 2016-17 governing year.

“As a PNAAC rep, I want to be a resource for other alumni whenever I can,” says Babson College alumna Kadia Tubman, an industry relations coordinator in the global marketing and communications group at Nielsen. “Being part of the alumni network and the Posse movement means that nothing is impossible.”

The PNAAC session focused on best practices for alumni engagement, graduate and fellowship opportunities, and ways for alumni to support Posse through giving. At the national board meeting, PNAAC representatives and their fellow local and national board members engaged in discussions about programming and organizational goals.

“Not only did I enjoy being of service to my fellow alumni, but I grew professionally by serving on a successful nonprofit board,\" says Brandeis University alumnus Edgar Ndjatou, who served as a PNAAC rep in D.C.

PNAAC, founded in 2008, is crucial to the continued success of the Foundation and the further development of Posse alumni as leaders in the workforce.

“PNAAC allowed me to help strengthen connections among our ever-expanding alumni network and collaborate with the local board to deliver on Posse’s mission here in New Orleans for our Scholars, alumni and the city,” says Grinnell College alumnus Adam Brumer, who served as a PNAAC rep in New Orleans.

PNAAC representatives work with local and national staff to recruit alumni volunteers, help raise funds to support the program, organize alumni programming, and assist in the planning and execution of the annual National Posse Alumni Leadership Conference.

“As my parents have said since I first became a Posse Scholar: ‘Posse is the gift that keeps on giving,’” Trinity college alumna Nicole Tsesmelis, who served as a PNAAC rep in New York. “We really are a movement, and there is something so special about having a growing group of Posse alumni come together for different events throughout the year.”
