Scholar Excels at U. Puget Sound

Fall 2017 | Bay Area

Priyanki Vora, a sophomore and member of the first Posse at the University of Puget Sound, has taken her campus by storm.

During her freshman year, Priyanki was approached by the dean of students to join the Peer Board and was subsequently selected by her classmates to join the Honor Court. Her responsibilities did not stop there. A true leader, she saw a need to create a space on campus for those who identify as Southeast Asian and is currently working with student government to make it happen.

Priyanki is also a strong leader in the classroom, completing her second semester with a 4.0 GPA.

This summer, she worked alongside Dr. Alan Wu at San Francisco General Hospital to test two machines aimed at detecting colon cancer using blood samples.

“I’ve always been interested in cancer because I’ve lost family members to it,” says Priyanki. “It was interesting to know that there are machines that can test blood to detect cancer. I was so excited to work on this project.”

An aspiring orthopedic surgeon, Priyanki is a double major in biology and history.
