Power of 10 Event Raises $365K

Spring 2024 | Houston

Alumni, donors, board members, staff and partners gathered last fall for Posse Houston’s 2023 Power of 10 fundraiser. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, the night was a success, raising $365K and setting a record for the site. The achievement demonstrates the Houston community’s commitment to the Posse mission and its transformative impact on talented young leaders.

The Posse Houston event honored Aon Chief Commercial Officer and Posse Board Member Jim Loucks for his years of dedicated service to the organization since first joining in January 2014.

The event also featured remarks from two Posse Vanderbilt alumni, Vanessa Egerton and Ben Jacob Thumpayil, who shared their experiences as Scholars and expressed their hope for the future of Posse Houston.

“Vanderbilt and Posse taught me the incredible importance of community,” said Vanessa. “There is a proverb that says, ‘it takes a village,’ and I am grateful I had Posse as my village.”

Among the nearly 25 institutional event sponsors, Posse Houston welcomed six new corporate sponsors into the fold, including Oxley Energy, Compass One Healthcare, EDF Trading, MidCon Gathering LLC and Spence & Co.

“These valuable partnerships not only contribute to the success of the Power of 10 event, but also signify prospective career collaborations,” says Posse Houston Director Zakiya Thomas. "Posse Houston is committed to nurturing and developing these relationships, opening doors for exciting new opportunities for our Scholars and alumni.”

The 170 guests included dedicated alumni representing all current and previous Posse Houston partner universities: Bryn Mawr College, Carleton College, Colby College, Texas A&M University, University of Texas at Austin, University of Virgina, Wellsley College, and Vanderbilt University.
