Posse Houston Hosts Companies in Action Event, Supports Scholar Career Development

Each year, Posse Houston’s signature Companies in Action event provides a key opportunity for Scholars and alumni to meet with partner companies, gaining valuable insights into corporate values, programs and job opportunities. This spring, three companies were represented at the virtual event: Alcon, Aon Consulting, and Kirkland & Ellis, LLP.

The Posse Career Program is rooted in the belief that professional development extends far beyond one’s time on campus. Posse Houston provides resources for Scholars across all facets of career development, including resume reviews, graduate school applications, navigating the workforce and networking with Posse Career Program partners.

At Companies in Action, Posse Houston’s partners meet with small groups of Scholars based on their industry interests, which generates deeper engagement and often leads to internships and full-time employment.

“As Posse aims to change the face of leadership by making space for all voices and perspectives to be heard, we are deeply invested in the values and visions of prospective employers,” says Posse Houston Director Zakiya Thomas. “The Scholars of today are the leaders of tomorrow, serving as agents for positive change throughout their communities. When we create meaningful connections to organizations with similar core values, we offer our Scholars a head start on their future careers, achieving an even larger Posse impact across the nation.”
