Posse Bay Area Welcomes Scholar as Intern

Fall 2019 | Bay Area

Boston University Scholar Tanan Kimberly Buyannemekh gained valuable experience in nonprofit management as an intern in the Posse Bay Area office this past summer.

During her time in the office, Tanan worked with the program and development teams, on projects that included foundation research, Pre-Collegiate Training support, and preparation for the new season of Posse nominations.

“Posse gives me so many opportunities and resources as a Scholar.”

“Posse gives me so many opportunities and resources as a Scholar,” says Tanan. “Not only did I learn more about Posse through my internship, but I also got to give back to the Foundation.”

She says one of her most memorable tasks was to research potential grantee organizations to see which most closely aligned with Posse’s focus on higher education.

“I was surprised that very few foundations have similar missions to Posse,” she says.

Tanan also spent time connecting with staff about their own career journeys, including one-on-one meetings with each team member to share stories about Posse’s impact on their lives.

“Hearing about everyone’s experience with Posse makes me feel immensely grateful, inspired, and honored to be a Posse Scholar,” says Tanan.
