Lehigh Scholar Interns at SurveyMonkey

Winter 2020 | Bay Area

Santiago Delgado, a junior at Lehigh University, is the first Posse Scholar to intern with SurveyMonkey, a new Posse Career Program partner.

Santiago worked within the company’s philanthropic initiative, SurveyMonkey for Good. Placed in the legal department, Santiago learned from lawyers working all over the world.

“I’ve wanted to be a lawyer for a long time, but I hadn’t pieced it together [with hands-on experience] until now,” he says. “Many of the lawyers I worked with are international. I’m learning so much from them and hopeful that this will guide my career path.”

One of Santiago’s primary projects was in support of SurveyMonkey’s Contribute initiative.

“I analyzed quantitative and qualitative data for more than 120 participating nonprofit organizations,” he says. “I worked across teams and functions within SurveyMonkey to get the information I needed to ultimately present my findings and help each organization raise funds.”

While COVID-19 prevented Santiago from working out of SurveyMonkey’s offices in San Mateo, California, he kept a positive outlook as a remote intern.

“It was such a competitive process and I was grateful to be there,” he says. “They made everyone feel like they belonged, even virtually, and the culture stood out [as a positive].”

Santiago is a proud world traveler, having ventured to more than 10 countries. He calls Interlaken, Switzerland, his favorite place in the world, and has long planned for a future with extensive international travel. Aiming to earn a law degree after his time at Lehigh, Santiago is now considering a career abroad just like the lawyers he met at SurveyMonkey.
