GWU Scholar Selected as JPMorgan Summer Analyst, Looks to Community Development

Spring 2021 | Atlanta

The George Washington University (GW) Posse Scholar Joshua Robinson has been selected as a summer analyst in JPMorgan’s Advancing Black Pathways Fellowship Program. The full-time, six-week paid fellowship aims to introduce talented and motivated underrepresented college sophomores, in particular Black students, to financial education and to the financial profession.

A sophomore majoring in finance and business analytics, Joshua hopes to one day operate his own private equity firm dedicated to community development for low-income communities in Metro Atlanta.

“When I started at GW, I knew that I wanted to explore my passion for community development,” Joshua says, emphasizing a commitment to serving those in need in his hometown. “The [disparity among] different communities regarding the resources they have readily available to them is a problem that I want to tackle head-on.”

GW has provided many opportunities for Joshua to grow as a leader.

GW has provided many opportunities for Joshua to grow as a leader, both in his areas of academic interest and alongside fellow students. During his time on campus so far, Joshua has served as a residential advisor for first-year students and as community service chair of the Black Men’s Initiative. In the college’s Real Estate and Financial Alliance Mentorship Program, Joshua says he has learned from and networked with commercial real estate professionals, receiving encouragement from peers to pursue a career in the industry.

Looking towards the years ahead, Joshua aims to graduate from GW, obtain a real estate license in Georgia, and continue to learn and grow in his chosen field.

“Only time will tell where my professional journey will lead me, but one thing is for sure: I will fulfill my purpose to serve others’ needs,” Joshua says.
