Catalogue for Philanthropy Features Posse as Top D.C. Nonprofit

Fall 2022 | D.C.

Posse D.C. is honored to announce its recognition as one of Greater Washington’s best community-based charities in the 2022-2023 Catalogue for Philanthropy. This award reflects Posse’s status as a premiere college access and leadership development program for dynamic young people from diverse backgrounds.

“We are proud to once again be featured in the Catalogue for Philanthropy. We are grateful for the longstanding support of our work and the significant role the Catalogue has played in expanding Posse’s local footprint,” says Posse D.C. Director David Barber. "We deeply value the Catalogue’s partnership and the generous donors in the DMV who give through the Catalogue to Posse D.C.”

Each year, hundreds of organizations apply to be part of the Catalogue, and The Posse Foundation was one of 87 selected after a rigorous vetting process. Members of a 170-person review team evaluate charities on the basis of program impact and fiscal soundness and each featured charity is visited on-site by at least one member of the review team. The Posse Foundation has been a member of the Catalogue family since 2006.

“The Catalogue is a much needed force in D.C.-area charitable giving,” said Donald Graham, the chairman and CEO of Graham Holdings Company, a Catalogue user. “It’s impossible for anyone to know all of the smaller nonprofits who do important work in our region. The Catalogue goes about the job in the right way, assembling groups of volunteers to look at agencies and ask them the right questions.”

This coming November, thousands of individuals and hundreds of family foundations will receive copies of the print Catalogue.
