BU Scholar Interns at Boston Theater Company

Brittani McBride, a Posse Scholar at Boston University, spent this summer working at a new theater company in Boston. The Front Porch Arts Collective, one of the only Black theater companies in the city, was a perfect match for Brittani’s interest in exploring acting and theater.

“I was able to focus on gaining administrative experience, learning about what it means to run a theater company,” she says.

“I want to help get multiple perspectives, narratives and stories out there.”

Brittani was proud to receive a Posse Summer Leadership Award through the Posse Career Program in support of her internship, which came with a financial grant for her to secure summer housing.

While she is still uncertain about her specific career path, Brittani sees her time at the Front Porch Arts Collective as a key step in the right direction. She has her sights set on graduate school, potentially applying her creative experience in the field of advertising, and plans to pursue acting and other forums for unique storytelling.

“I want to diversify the theater world and help get multiple perspectives, narratives and stories out there,” says Brittani.
