Apache Corporation Joins Posse Houston’s First Companies in Action Event

Posse Houston hosted its first-ever Companies in Action event earlier this year in a virtual gathering that featured Posse Career Program partner Apache Corporation.

Companies in Action is designed to inform third- and fourth-year Posse Scholars about a select company’s culture and employment opportunities. The event also gives Scholars an opportunity to interact with company executives and hiring officials.

Apache Corporation is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company with a mission to help meet the world’s energy needs. As this year’s Companies in Action featured employer, representatives joined Posse Scholars online to present an introduction to Apache’s vision and goals, company culture, and narratives from a diverse panel of employees. The event closed with a Q&A session.

Darius Pitre, a Texas A&M University Posse alumnus, is now a production engineer at Apache and attended as one of the day’s featured panelists.

"I hope I was able to show the Posse Scholars that achieving your dream career is possible if you follow your passions," Darius says of his contributions to the panel. "I hope hearing from someone who realized his dreams—someone who was once in their shoes—inspires them to push hard for whatever future they desire."

Posse Scholars in attendance represented five of Posse Houston’s university partners: Bryn Mawr College, Carleton College, Texas A&M University, University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Virginia. While Apache is an oil and gas company, the event also made space for Scholars with interest in environmental sustainability, law and government.

The company presentation and strong engagement from all involved set a high bar for future Companies in Action events. Posse Houston looks forward to continued partnership with Apache Corporation.
