Start a Givalanche to Support the Next Generation of Scholars

Fall 2016

At the eighth annual National Posse Alumni Leadership Conference this past July, Posse D.C. PNAAC Representative Briana Strachan, a graduate of Lafayette College, challenged her fellow Posse alumni to start a “givalanche” in support of the next generation of Posse Scholars.

Giving to Posse is about more than money—it is also about the time alumni invest in connecting with Scholars and other alumni within the Posse community. The Posse Foundation’s goal is to inspire 100 percent alumni participation to raise $100,000. Alumni can exponentially multiply their investments of time and treasure by tapping into their networks.

With this in mind, the givalanche challenge calls for Posse alumni to:

  • Donate – Big or small, every donation matters. After making a gift, share a special link via social media or text to prompt other alumni to give.
  • Volunteer – Become a DAP volunteer, writing coach, or resume coach, and share the experience on social media.

Go online to start a givalanche, track progress toward the $100,000 goal, and see how your Posse measures up! In the spirit of friendly competition, contributions will be tracked by Posse, city and school. In addition, alumni volunteers are making calls and holding meetings to motivate their Posses to reach the 100 percent giving goal. So far, 9 percent of alumni have given more than $38,000 in support of Posse.

Posse is so grateful to alumni across the country who are making these commitments, supporting Scholars and building the Posse movement.
