University of Rochester Partners with Posse D.C.

The University of Rochester, located in Rochester, New York, joins Posse D.C.’s roster of top-tier partner colleges and universities and will begin selecting Scholars this fall. One of the nation’s leading private universities, Rochester was recently ranked #33 among national universities by U.S. News & World Report.

“Words cannot express how excited we are to work with such a wonderful institution led by genuinely passionate and committed individuals," said Posse D.C. Director Tamara Wilds Lawson. "We eagerly anticipate next fall when our Scholars first arrive on campus.”

With a beautiful campus that stretches alongside the Genesee River, the university boasts more than 200 academic majors, and its open curriculum also allows students "learn what they love."

“We were enthusiastic choosing Posse D.C. as our partner city," says Jonathan Burdick, the university's dean of admission and financial aid. "The D.C. area is full of excellent, well-prepared students from a variety of backgrounds, and it’s home to many of our best alumniespecially young alumni. We hope Posse students will spread the word in D.C. that the university is not only an excellent choice for your education, but the City of Rochester is more accessible than you think."

The university’s resources include the David T. Kearns Center for Leadership and Diversity in Science and Engineering and the Eastman School of Music, one of the nation’s top conservatories. Additionally, Rochester has more than 250 student clubs, religious and spiritual activities, performing arts, politics, community service, honor societies, fraternities and sororities, athletics and club sports.

This fall, Posse D.C. Scholars will also be selected by Bucknell University, Grinnell College, Lafayette College, Sewanee: The University of the South and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
