Power of 10 Event Honors Pepco VP, Raises Close to $200K

In October 2016, Posse D.C. hosted its ninth annual Power of 10 fundraiser at the JW Marriott in Washington, D.C. The event, which raised nearly $200,000, honored Debbi Jarvis, Vice President, Corporate Relations at Pepco Holdings, for her community advocacy and commitment to area youth.

“Pepco strives to improve the quality of life in the communities it serves and an investment in Posse is an important way to support our customers and clients,” Debbi said. “I deeply admire Posse as a pipeline organization cultivating the next generation of diverse leaders in our region.”

The annual event is held to recognize the strength of Posse’s dynamic Scholars and celebrate diversity, equity and leadership in higher education and the workforce. Eun Yang, anchor at NBC4 Washington, emceed the evening’s program and introduced Posse alumna April Htut, who spoke about the support that Posse provided during her four years at Bucknell University.

“I have witnessed firsthand how Posse instills the confidence in its Scholars to be the best leaders, students, and people we can be; it has allowed us to find the best versions of ourselves,” said April, who is currently an associate at Bain & Company. “When we got homesick, when the stress of exams wore us out, or when family issues arose, we never gave up because we knew we had each other’s back and a mission to accomplish—to graduate.”
