Power of 10 Event Honors Allstate, Raises Close to $450K

Winter 2017 | Chicago

In October, more than 300 guests attended Posse Chicago’s 11th annual Power of 10 event at the Chicago Cultural Center, raising nearly $450,000 for the program. Allstate Insurance Company was honored for its strong partnership and commitment to diversity in education and the workforce.

The event highlighted the strength, perseverance and power of a Posse of 10 students. University of Wisconsin-Madison Posse alumnus Richie Marrero, a senior associate at MassMutual Chicago, shared his journey from Humboldt Park to Madison and from graduation to the workforce.

“Posse has continued to play a significant role in changing my life for the better. You may not know it, but Posse is not just a college access program. That’s only half the story,” said Richie. “Posse is a college success program. Posse expects great things from its Scholars and provides resources and career support to help ensure our success. This, is the power of Posse.”

Nearly 100 Posse alumni joined Richie at the event, a powerful statement about the value alumni ascribe to their Posse experience and their commitment to ensuring that Scholars continue to benefit from the program.

The event was a success thanks to the committee led by event co-chairs D’Andrea Anderson, a member of the leadership council, and Julie Parsons, a member of the advisory board.
