BU Scholars Selected for Campus Leadership Honor Society

Fall 2015 | Atlanta

This fall, two Boston University Scholars were initiated into the Scarlet Key Honor Society in recognition of their contributions to the campus community. Issa Kenyatta and Bezawit Begosew were nominated by BU faculty and staff to join this Honor Society, which was founded in 1938. Issa and Bezawit are the first Posse Scholars to receive this honor.

Issa is a senior majoring in communications and journalism who aspires to develop television programming. He is a resident assistant and student admissions representative, and hosts a popular podcast discussing relevant interests of the campus community.

"Posse has given me so much, and my family too," says Issa. "This honor is a testament to what you can accomplish when you have your village behind you."

Bezawit, also a senior, majors in human physiology and public health. She plans to become a primary care physician to serve diverse populations both domestically and abroad. On campus, she is a resident assistant, media assistant for the Office of Residence Life, and a medical research assistant within her major. Bezawit has also volunteered with myriad public health organizations in Atlanta, Boston, Puerto Rico and Honduras.

Issa and Bezawit will be formally inducted during commencement weekend in May.
