Announcing Posse Arts: Michelle Obama Celebrates New Posse Collaboration with Lin-Manuel Miranda

The Posse Foundation has launched a new arts initiative in partnership with Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Miranda Family Fund, with CalArts as the first institutional partner. Former First Lady Michelle Obama announced the program.

Presidents Conference Tackles Economics of Higher Ed

In October, presidents and chancellors from top colleges and universities around the country convened in New York City for Posse’s biennial Presidents Conference on Higher Education. This year’s Conference entitled, Another Bubble: The Sustainability of the Higher Education Economic Model, explored the viability of current approaches to funding postsecondary institutions.

Infor Chief Executive Officer Charles Phillips, a former captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, joined the Posse National Board of Directors in April 2012. Infor, a leading global software company, was the first corporate sponsor of the recently launched Veterans Posse Program.

Longstanding Partner Viacom Committed to Program’s Success

Since 2006, The Posse Foundation has enjoyed the generous support of media giant Viacom. Viacom and its extensive network of media providers—including BET, Comedy Central, MTV and Paramount Pictures—have donated more than $420,000 to the Foundation as well as hosted fundraisers and provided highly coveted career development opportunities to Posse Scholars.

President Obama Donates Portion of Nobel Peace Prize Money to Posse

On March 11, 2010, The Posse Foundation became one of only 10 organizations selected by President Barack Obama to receive a portion of the president's $1.4 million Nobel Peace Prize award money, which he elected to donate to charitable causes. The news that Posse will receive a generous gift of $125,000 came via a White House announcement.
