Director of HR + Staff Development - National

The Director of HR + Staff Development is responsible for the overall health of HR policies and plans and the professional development of staff. The HR Director works closely with the president and the executive team to ensure that HR strategy and key HR initiatives are delivered in order to support the staffing and HR related needs of the entire organization. This position will handle confidential information related to employee salaries and benefits, performance and operational issues. The individual will also be an advisor to senior staff and other supervisors on hiring, policy communication, evaluations and professional development.

The Director of HR + Staff Development oversees the HR Generalist position, and guides and supports all activities related to HR.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with president and senior team to develop strategy for best practices related to hiring, onboarding and ongoing development of staff.
  • Building strong working relationships across the entire organization and serving as a trusted HR professional.
  • Overseeing protocols and processes for recruiting and hiring high quality, diverse talent. Coaching managers to ensure they clearly understand the organization’s culture and are able to successfully fill open positions.
  • Establishing and delivering professional development workshops for managers and other staff; conducting new employee orientations and ongoing training.
  • Guiding and coaching supervisors on handling employee issues.
  • Staying up to date with HR and labor laws to ensure all Posse offices are current and in compliance.
  • Maintaining and revising Posse’s personnel handbook on policies and procedures, ensuring it’s current, relevant and in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Managing necessary changes to job descriptions, evaluations and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Supporting annual audits, including 403(b) and workers compensation.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Professional certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-SCP) or Master’s Degree with a concentration in HR Management preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HR leadership position
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff members, applicants, vendors, insurance carriers and visitors at all levels.
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to handle confidential information with care and discretion.
